India’s former opening batsman Arun Lal will get married on May 2. He is 66, and his new partner in life will be BulBul Saha, who is 38.

“Age is just a number, it is the love that matters,” says BulBul, speaking exclusively over the telephone to Deccan Chronicle. She adds that she has received the blessings of her elders for the match.

The bride-to-be declined to specify the number of years that she and Arun have known each other. “That is personal but it has been quite a few years,” she said. This will be her first marriage, and Arun’s second.

Interestingly, Arun, who has divorced his first wife Reema, has been taking care of her as she is ill, and has taken her consent to tie the knot with BulBul. They are living in the same two-storey apartment. “After marrying BulBul, I will move to the upper floor,” he told.

Arun Lal, who played for India in 16 Tests and 13 ODIs, is currently the coach of the Bengal Ranji team.

“BulBul is a teacher in St. Paul Mission school in Kolkata. She teaches English to XI and XII standard pupils. She also takes history classes,” says Arun.
Invitations have been sent out to various friends of the couple, cricketers and CAB officials. Reema won’t be attending the marriage, both said. Arun was diagnosed with jaw cancer in 2016 but has fully recovered and has been a commentator for domestic and international matches. He is a bird lover, while BulBul loves animals.

We wish them a very happy married life.
