A 21-year-old woman was strangled by her husband and her younger sister at her parents’ home in Southwest Delhi’s Palam on Wednesday evening for objecting to their extra-marital affair.

The woman’s husband and sister were caught before they could dispose off her body and flee from the city, said the police.

The woman, identified as Pooja, was strangled by husband, Rahul, 24, a courier boy and sister, Rinki, 19, as they were in love and wanted to marry each other. Twenty days ago, Rahul convinced Pooja to visit her parents and stay with them for some days.

Three days ago, Pooja left home for some work, leaving behind her husband and sister at home. Her father, who owns a tea shop, and other family members were away. When Pooja returned home, she found Rinki in a compromising position with her husband. As she started scolding her husband, Rinki became enraged and entered into an altercation with her sister. DCP Surender Kumar said that Pooja was strangled by her husband and sister on Wednesday evening following the argument she had with their over their affair. “After murdering Pooja, Rahul asked Rinki to pack her bag and wait for him at the Janakpuri Metro station. He told Rinki that he would meet her at the Metro station after disposing off Pooja’s body,” said the DCP, adding Rinki left and reached the Metro station. While Rahul was wrapping Pooja’s body in a bedsheet, her father arrived and raised an alarm which alerted the neighbours.
