In a shocking incident depicting extreme cruelty by a mother towards her own children, a 38-year-old woman allegedly bur-nt the hand of her 12-year-old son with an iron when a jar full of flour fell on the ground after he accidentally brushed it with his hand while putting together his lunch. She was arrested late evening.
According to a senior police official, the incident took place at a house in Northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area on Sunday evening and came to light late on Sunday.
Police said that Disha (name changed), mother of 12-year-old Nishant (name changed) and a 13-year-old girl, was allegedly infuriated over a quarrel with her husband Jitu (name changed).
Sources said that the couple, both working in private jobs, are going th-rough a matrimonial dispute. Enraged over a heated argument with her husband, the woman first beat her son with an iron when his hand accidentally brushed against a container full of flour. She allegedly did not stop at that and went ahead and bit the child’s hand.
Somehow, Nishant managed to break free from the clutches of his mother and locked himself in his room. Late on Sunday ni-ght, he opened the door when his father knocked. He narrated the incident to his father, after which Jitu approached the cops.
In the meantime, he took his son to a nearby hospital where he was treated. Sources said that he was discharged as he had suffered minor injuries.
A senior police officer shared that Disha was called for questioning. During sustained interrogation, she broke down and admitted that she did this to her son in a state of anger. She allegedly said that angry with her husband over constant fights, she vented her anger on their son. The police said it has arrested the woman under appropriate Sections of the IPC.
