After receiving a barrage of criticism on Twitter for his sarcastic tweet on Jain monk Tarun Sagar’s address to the Haryana Assembly, Vishal Dadlani, music director and AAP’s celebrity supporter, said he is quitting “all active political work/ affiliation”.
Mr Dadlani sent a flurry of tweets apologising to several Twitter users, including Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and PWD minister Satyendar Jain. Mr Jain, meanwhile, will meet the Tarun Sagar in Chandigarh on Monday.
In a tweet, the celebrity supporter of the AAP had mocked the Jain leader’s address to the Assembly on Friday.
He later took down the post after his post triggered a huge outcry. “I apologise wholeheartedly. My tweet was against the overlap of religion and governance. Not any particular religion,” he said, announcing his decision to quit “active political work”.
The music composer had tweeted the following: “If you voted for these people, YOU are responsible for this absurd nonsense! No #AchcheDin, just #NoKachcheDin.”
However, soon after the singer posted this tweet, he received numerous angry responses on Twitter. Mr Dadlani was quick to reply everyone with an apology. He said his intentions were not to offend people or their beliefs. Mr Dadlani was the star campaigner for the AAP during the last year’s Delhi Assembly elections.
