Welcoming the high court verdict of cancelling the appointment of 21 parliamentary secretaries by the AAP government, the Delhi BJP demanded that these 21 MLAs should not be allowed to attend the one-day Assembly session on Friday.

Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay said that Thursday’s judgment will be seen as a confirmation of the charges of anarchic behaviour by Arvind Kejr-iwal. “The judgment establish the facts that the app-ointment is illegal and in violation of constitutional provisions. Everyone kno-ws that these MLAs are not going to resign on their own and in this situation, they should be barred from attending the one-day session on Friday,” added Mr Upadhyay.

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Vijender Gupta claimed that after coming to power, Mr Kejriwal was not politically stable because his party was divided into various groups. “To keep the MLAs in check, Mr Kerjiwal gave lollypop (the post of parliamentary secretary) to 21 MLAs illegally, which has been cancelled by the high court,” said Mr Gupta.

Citing constitutional provision, Lok Sabha member Meenakshi Lekhi said the Constitution has made it clear that MPs and MLAs cannot be appointed to office of profit.
