Alleging “corruption” and “irregularities in appointments,” two Delhi Waqf Board members on Wednesday announced their resignation from the body in the regime of present chairman AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, who denied the charges.
The members, Mufti Ejaj Arshad Qazmi and Chau-dhary Sharif Ahmad, told reporters that they have resigned from the membership of the board and sent their resignation letters to L-G Najeeb Jung.The duo levelled allegations of “corruption” and “irregularities in appointments” under the regime of present chairman and AAP MLA from Okhla Amantullah Khan.
The board is under scanner for the alleged irregularities in Mr Khan’s chairmanship. The anti-corruption branch of the Delhi government is probing a complaint of irregularities. Refuting the allegations, Mr Khan accused the members of working “at the behest of” the L-G.
“It’s a new ploy and they are colluding with the L-G,” Mr Khan said.
