The Delhi police arrested a 30-year-old man, identified as Raheesuddin, and his associate Javed (27) from their hideouts in the city for the gruesome triple murder of a woman and her two daughters in east Delhi on June 5.

Raheesuddin owns a meat shop and Javed is a daily wageworker.

The police said on Thursday Raheesuddin was in love with 19-year-old Mehrunnisa, but she had jilted him. In a fit of anger over her new relationship and continuous demands of money made by her mother Saira Bano (45), Raheesuddin murdered the mother and her two daughters, stayed with dead bodies and watched a TV series, Crime Patrol, before escaping.

“Raheesuddin and Javed killed Mehrunnisa, her mother Saira Bano and her nine-year-old sister Shabnam at their Usmanpur residence in east Delhi on June 5 and fled from the spot,” said a senior police officer.

On June 5, Mehrunnisa got a call from Javed to come outside as he needed to talk to her about some personal issue. When she left home, Raheesuddin entered her house and slit throat of Shabnam who had come to open the door. When Saira Bano, who was on the second floor, reached the door as she heard a scuffle, Raheesuddin killed her on the spot.

“After killing the mother and younger girl, he hid their bodies in other rooms and sat in the drawing room and watched TV. He was in the room for two hours and watched Crime Patrol and news channels,” Ajit Kumar Singla, deputy commissioner of police, said.

After two hours when Mehrunnisa reached her house, Raheesuddin opened the gate. When she saw blood on the floor, she got suspicious but he attacked her and killed her too. She was stabbed with a butcher’s knife on her head, neck and hands and died on the spot.

“Raheesuddin used a butcher’s knife to slit the victims’ throats. After killing three of them, he hid all of the bodies in various rooms of the house. He then sat in the drawing room and again watched TV for two hours. In between, he called two of his friends, seeking help to dispose of the bodies, but all of them refused to help. Thereafter, he bolted the flat from outside and fled,” said, a senior police official. The police got a tip off about the criminal after examining phone call details. “Raheesuddin confessed that he was in love with Mehrunnisa. He lost his temper after learning that she had an affair with another youth,” said the officer.
