Three people were arrested on Wednesday for the alleged abduction and gangrape of a runaway minor girl in a Noida park.

The arrested accused were idnetifed as Azad, Amir and Zahid. All are autorickshaw drivers and were arrested from their hideouts in the city.

The victim, believed to be a minor, told the police that she had run away from her house in Shamli in Uttar Pradesh after a quarrel with her parents and boarded a bus to Noida.

An autorickshaw driver took her to his house on the pretext of giving shelter. He later called two of his friends to his house.

As the girl suspected something was wrong and tried to escape, the accused took her to a park in Sector 119 at around 2 am on Tuesday night and assaulted her.

The girl approached the police in the morning and narrated the entire sequence and the accused were arrested.

“The arrested persons were produced in the court and were sent to a 14-day judicial custody,” said Kiran Sivakumar, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Gautam Budh Nagar. The police said the girl underwent medical tests in a hospital and the reports are awaited. The complainant was sent back to her home in Shamli.
