Tenure is extended by 2 years

The Delhi government on Thursday extended the tenure of homeguards for two years, taking their service tenure to nine years. The decision officials said will benefit over ten thousand homeguards.

The Delhi government on Thursday extended the tenure of homeguards for two years, taking their service tenure to nine years. The decision officials said will benefit over ten thousand homeguards. Home minister Satyendar Jain approved the extension of tenure of homeguard volunteers for another two years.

“The decision aimed at ensuring maximum safety and security for the citizens of Delhi, particularly women, will instantly benefit more than 2,200 homeguard volunteers who were going to complete their tenures in the months of February and March 2016. In the long run, it will also benefit the entire force of homeguards i.e. 10,285 volunteers. Once enrolled, a homeguard volunteers may now serve for a total of nine years,” a Delhi government statement said.

Officials also said that the two-year extension of tenure will ensure a better motivation, discipline and performance within the force.

“The government has also approved the fresh enrolment of 7,239 homeguards volunteers which was pending since more than three years,” the statement added.
