A 17-year-old boy died when he came in contact with high-tension wires above a railway track along Mathura Road in southeast Delhi’s Okhla area on Tuesday.
According to the police, the deceased, identified as Anwar Alam, had allegedly climbed the roof of a train which had halted at a crossing in the area and came in contact with the overhead high tension wires. “We received a call at about 11 am that a boy has electrocuted after coming in contact with a high tension wire,” said a senior police officer, adding, “Immediately teams from local police station and sleuths from railway police rushed to the spot.
When the team arrived at the spot, the boy was found entangled in the wires, the police said. A call to the fire department was made and he was brought down by its officials and emergency teams after 45-minutes. “He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead by the doctors,” said the senior police officer
A case under relevant sections has been registered at the Okhla police station and further investigations are on.
Investigating officials said that they are probing the case from all possible angles as no one stopped him while he climbed the train in broad daylight. “No security official from any agency saw him climbing,” said the police.
