A PCR van was damaged on Saturday and two Delhi police constables suffered injuries after a speeding tempo rammed into it in outer Delhi’s Bhalswa.

A senior police official said that the incident took place at around 5.30 am. The PCR van was patrolling in the area, heading towards Harniki village from Bakhtawarpur, when the incident occurred.

“The errant driver was driving his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner. He lost control over the tempo and rammed into the PCR van. The impact of the collision was such that the PCR van toppled,” the police said. Two constables, identified as Dharampal (36) and Roshanpal (35), suffered serious injuries. They were taken to a nearby hospital.

“The PCR van had toppled in an agricultural land. The police personnel were crushed beneath it. Locals spotted them and took them out,” the police said. The tempo driver fled after abandoning the vehicle. A case has been lodged at Alipur police station. The tempo has been impounded while the efforts were being made to nab the driver.
