AAP calls him ‘biggest hypocrite’

Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s Son-in-law Robert Vadra on Saturday criticised the exemptions granted to vehicles of VIPs by the Delhi government in its “even-odd scheme” to control pollution, saying that everybody should abide by the law.

“Odd and Even ways !! Creating parallel lists of exemption, is complete hypocrisy. If a law is implemented in the interest of the people, we all must adhere, and not be VIPs,” Mr Vadra said in his Facebook post.

The AAP, which heads the Delhi government, hit back at Robert Vadra over his criticism of the even-odd scheme, calling him the “biggest hypocrite” and advising him to contribute and not comment on the initiative.

“He is the biggest hypocrite and he is talking about hypocrisy. He should say what good or productive he has done for the society until now. Instead of commenting on the policy, it would be good if he makes any contribution to make the Delhi government’s initiative successful,” AAP’s Delhi unit convenor Dilip Pandey said at a press conference here.

The BJP was also quick to latch on to his comments and took a jab at Mr Vadra for criticising the exemptions granted to VIPs by the Delhi government.

The party said it was ironical as he himself took privileges for not being an ordinary citizen.“What an irony. Mr Robert Vadra took privileges for not being an ordinary citizen and he is making a comment about exceptions,” remarked BJP leader Nalin Kohli.

“It is very ironical. It raises more questions about him,” he added. The Delhi government has come out with a scheme of allowing vehicles of even and odd numbers alternatively on Delhi roads in its bid to control pollution in the national capital, but has come out with exemptions for VIPs.

The scheme, to be enforced from January 1, has evoked mixed reactions from the public, who fear the scheme may cause them problems while commuting. The government has proposed a fine of Rs 2,000 for any violation.
