The Delhi police on Wednesday chargesheeted AAP MLA and Delhi assembly speaker Ram Niwas Goyal and others in connection with a rioting case lodged against them in 2015. The police has chargesheeted them for offences punishable under various sections of IPC. The court will take the cognisance of the chargesheet in the coming weeks. According to the prosecution, Manish Ghai, a resident of Farsh Bazar, and reportedly a BJP supporter, had lodged a case with the police against Ram Niwas Goyal and his supporters Atul Gupta, Balbir Singh, Ritesh Chaturvedi and Hitesh Khanna.
Ghai had alleged in his complaint that Goyal and his supporters barged inside his house when he was not around and damaged his property. He alleged that they broke the windowpane of his house and went on rampage.
His driver called him and informed that Goyal and his supporters were ransacking the whole house. He reached the house and found that Goyal and his supporters were raising slogans and were damaging his property. They also allegedly clashed with Ghai and accused him of hiding liquor inside his house. The latter called the police to report against them. When the police arrived Goyal and his supporters told the cops that Ghai was hiding liquor in his house and thus they had assembled. They asked the cops to take action against Ghai. A case was lodged against Goyal and his supporters on 7 February 2015.
