Even as a BJP councillor in Uttar Pradesh was suspended for declaring a reward for cutting off JNU students’ union president Kanhaiya Kumar’s tongue, the Delhi police on Saturday filed a case under relevant sections against Adarsh Sharma, the leader of Purvanchal Sena, for allegedly pasting posters in New Delhi district declaring a reward of Rs 11 lakh for anyone who shoots the student leader.

Kanhaiya Kumar had triggered a political storm after his hour-long speech at JNU campus soon after his release on bail on Thursday night.

The Delhi police PRO office confirmed that acting on the complaint of Press Club of India (PCI), a case under Delhi prevention of defamation of property act has been filed in connection with the matter.

The poster, printed in Hindi with slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Jai Purvanchal, begins with “Vande Mataram” written in bold letters.

It reads: “Purvanchal Sena offers Rs 11 lakh for shooting traitor Kanhaiya Kumar.” The posters also mention contact number of Adarsh Sharma, who claims to be the president of Purvanchal Sena. They were pasted at the bus stops and metro stations in the New Delhi district.

“We want the traitor Kanhaiya Kumar dead as he has brought bad name to Purvanchal people by raising anti-national slogans. We have complete faith in the court but its proceedings will take a long time. We want to ensure there is a quick decision and therefore we have announced this prize money of Rs 11 lakh to be given to whosoever kills him. It will stop others who want to follow Kanhaiya Kumar,” said Adarsh Sharma, president of Purvanchal Sena.
