PM Modi will not make you vice-president, Kejriwal tells Lieutenant-Governor

Launching a stinging attack on lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said that notwithstanding the “obstacles” put by him at the “behest” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he will never be made the vice-president of India. He taunted Mr Jung for blocking his government’s developmental policies, alleging graft and launching random anti-corruption investigations in his plans without any evidence.

On his part, Mr Jung responded saying, “I feel sorry for his paranoia.”

In a caustic letter to the L-G, Mr Kejriwal took on him and Mr Modi for allegedly putting spanners in every small initiative of the AAP government by getting them probed by the anti-corruption branch and CBI. Seeking to offer a “small suggestion” as Mr Jung’s “younger brother”, Mr Kejriwal went on to write, “Do as much unconstitutional, illegal and anti-people work as you want at the behest of Modiji, but he will never make you the vice-president.”

The CM asked the L-G to also launch a graft probe into a 100-seat medical college he inaugurated on Sunday. “I want you to know that only yesterday the government has inaugurated a 100-seat medical college. I want to request you to ask your ACB team to lodge an FIR and get it investigated. Kindly also tell Prime Minister Modi to get a raid done on health minister Satyender Jain for committing the crime of completing the medical college in a record time. We will be keenly waiting for your ACB and Modiji’s CBI,” Mr Kejriwal wrote.

The AAP chief and the L-G have clashed repeatedly on matters of jurisdiction in governing the national capital ever since the Aam Aadmi Party stormed to power in 2015.

Mr Kejriwal stated that he was among a few people who are meant to serve the mankind, “struggle and construct” while the rest are tasked with destructing and putting spanners on every good work. You and Modiji fulfil your duties. We will be awaiting your and Modiji’s ACB and CBI,” he said.
