Nagaland cop shoots self with his service rifle

A 25-year-old constable of the Nagaland Armed Police, posted at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Museum, allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle on Tuesday morning.

A 25-year-old constable of the Nagaland Armed Police, posted at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Museum, allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle on Tuesday morning. The constable, identified as Anatho, shot himself dead around 10.30 am in the barracks inside the museum premises in New Delhi’s Janpath. No suicide note was recovered from the spot, a senior police official said. Anatho was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead. His family has been informed about the incident. However, the reason behind his taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.

An inquest has been initiated into the matter, DCP (New Delhi) Jatin Narwal said.

On May 16, a Delhi police head constable deployed at Union minister Uma Bharti’s residence in New Delhi allegedly attempted suicide by shooting himself with his service gun.
