Miranda girl survives suicide bid

A 20-year-old BSc final year girl student of Miranda House tried to allegedly commit suicide by jumping in front of a Metro train at Indraprastha station in the afternoon on Thursday.

A 20-year-old BSc final year girl student of Miranda House tried to allegedly commit suicide by jumping in front of a Metro train at Indraprastha station in the afternoon on Thursday.

The girl identified as Anuradha, a resident of Noida, was standing at platform number one of the Indraprastha station before she jumped before a train heading towards Yamuna Bank station at around 2.20 pm, said DCP(Metro).

The driver of the train applied brakes, but the girl sustained injuries on her head and waist and was rushed to LNJP Hospital where she is undergoing treatment and is likely to survive, police said.

As soon as the girl jumped before the train, there was commotion on the station. Police was called and she was rushed to the hospital. Her identity was established through her identity card that was found in her bag. Police said that the girl had appeared for a practical exam in college and was allegedly dissatisfied with her performance.
