Minor girl raped, DU student alleges assault

Two incidents of rape were reported in the national capital in the past 24 hours. A Delhi University student was sexually assaulted on the pretext of marriage in Gazipur area and a minor was raped by her neighbour in New Ashok Nagar. Both the incidents took place in east Delhi.
A seven-year-old girl was raped by her neighbour at his house in New Ashok Nagar. The accused, identified as Prince, lured the girl on the pretext of playing with her to his room where he sexually assaulted her. “When the girl started screaming for help, the accused beat her up,” said a senior police officer, adding, “The locals, however, on hearing the commotion, reached the spot and rescued the girl.” The police was informed and the accused was handed over by the locals to the cops. A medical examination of the girl was conducted as well. A case under sections of Pocso was registered against Prince at the New Ashok Nagar police station and he was arrested.
In the second incident, a Delhi University student accused a man of sexually assaulting her on pretext of marriage. The accused in this case is absconding and the police is hunting for him.
On Wednesday, the police said, that the woman approached the Gazipur police with thae complaint that a man whom he knew for the past few months promised to marry her, but he duped her and escaped. “On the basis of her complaint, we have filed a rape case and are further investigating the matter,” said the senior police officer, adding, “A team has been sent to his native place where he may have fled.” The police said that his call details are also being scrutinised.
