Minor ends life after youth circulated objectionable pics

A day after a 17-year-old girl allegedly jumped to death at the Cross River Mall in east Delhi on Thursday evening, sources said that the girl allegedly took the extreme step as a jilted lover had circulated objectionable pictures of the girl to her father and other family members. Enraged over the pictures, the minor girl was scolded by her father. According to sources, her family had even lodged a complaint with the police regarding the same. Depressed over this incident, the girl took the extreme step.

Sources meanwhile added that the father of the girl, a sub-inspector with the Uttar Pradesh police, has been called in for questioning at the Anand Vihar police station where probe has been initiated under section 174 of the CrPC (inquest proceedings). The police is also questioning the girl’s friends and other family members.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 7.30 pm at the Cross River Mall where the girl allegedly jumped from the third floor. The police has found a suicide note from the deceased’s possession addressed to her parents in which she has mentioned that she was sorry for what she was doing.

Sources said before jumping from the third floor of the busy mall, the girl had allegedly consumed rat poison and phenyl. Police said that they have sent the girl’s body for post-mortem. They are awaiting her reports to establish if she had consumed rat poison and phenyl.

The police, meanwhile, said it has started investigation in the matter. Cops are verifying if indeed the jilted lover had sent pictures on the cellphone of the girl’s father. Based on this, appropriate action will be taken against the accused youth.
