Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay has sought explanation from party leaders that are absent from the national capital when it is witnessing the outbreak of vector borne diseases. Mr Upadhyay on Monday called Dr Sanjiv Nayyar, the mayor of North Delhi Municipal Corporation, and asked to explain his absence from the city.

A BJP insider said that after Dr Nayyar, party Lok Sabha member from North East Delhi, Manoj Tiwari, and Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta will be asked to explained the reason behind their absence.

Mr Upadhyay told this newspaper that Dr Nayyar was called up and asked to explain the reason behind his absence. “Dr Nayyar told that he went to attend Mayor’s conference and after that he went to learn garbage disposal system,” added Mr Upadhyay.

BJP sources claimed that Mr Upadhyay has heard the explanation but he is not satisfied. “Dr Nayyar went for mayor’s conference which ended on September 12. After the conference he went to Venice to learn about garbage disposal system there but failed to convince state president about not cutting short his trip,” said the source. Mr Tiwari, who also returned from Singapore, will be called in a day or two to explain his absence.
