Man stabbed over broken slipper

A man stabbed a 25-year-old physically disabled youth after the victim accidentally stepped on his slipper which broke. The incident took place in Civil Lines area of North Delhi on Thursday night.

A man stabbed a 25-year-old physically disabled youth after the victim accidentally stepped on his slipper which broke. The incident took place in Civil Lines area of North Delhi on Thursday night. A senior police official said the deceased has been identified as John and the accused as Suraj. A TSR driver who witnessed the incident made a PCR call at around 7.40 pm. “Suraj was roaming near Pal Deri in Punjabi Basti when John accidentally stepped on his slipper from behind. The slipper got broken. Suraj scolded him for breaking his slipper. John said he it happened accidentally, but Suraj hurled abuses at him, took out a knife, stabbed John in his chest and fled,” said the official. John was rushed to a nearby hospital. Initially, the police lodged an FIR under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC and added IPC Section 302 after John succumbed to injuries. The police conducted raids and arrested Suraj him from Chhan Basti in Timarpur area.
