Man run over by tanker after his bike gets stuck in pothole

A 45 year old man died after he was crushed by a tanker as his motorcycle lost control and fell on the road due to a rainwater-filled pothole near a shopping mall in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area on Saturday evening.

“After the motorcycle of the victim, identified as Praveen, got stuck in a big pothole filled with rainwater near Vasant Square Mall in Vasant Kunaj (south), Praveen lost control and was ran over by a tanker bearing Haryana registration number at around 7.30 pm,” said a police officer.

Passersbys rushed him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The body was sent to AIIMS mortuary for autopsy, the police said.

The victim was a resident of Mohan Garden in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area.

The tanker was later seized by the police although its driver managed to escape, leaving the vehicle on the spot.
