Swaraj Abhiyan leader Yogendra Yadav on Wednesday alleged the lieutenant-governor is acting as an instrument of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the real victims in this confrontation between the Delhi government and the Centre are the common people of the national capital.

“This entire thing is so tragic. The people of Delhi are the victims of the game being played by both the Aam Aadmi (Party) government and the BJP via the L-G. No doubt the L-G acts as the instrument of the Central government and very often of the BJP,” Mr Yadav told a news agency.

He alleged the AAP uses the Centre’s interference as a way to shield itself from its own wrongdoings. “At the same time the AAP government in Delhi wants to use it (Centre’s interference) to shield all the wrong doings and non-doings,” he said.

Taking a jibe at the AAP’s slogan which says “wo pareshaan karte rahe, hum kaam karte rahe” (they trouble us, but we continue with our work), Mr Yadav said their slogan should be “wo pareshan karte rahe aur ye chugli karte rahe” (they trouble us and we keep complaining).

The lieutenant-governor has ordered the transfer of several senior officials engaged in flagship projects of the AAP government which prompted Mr Arvind Kejriwal to accuse Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being behind all this. This is the first major administrative reshuffle ordered by Mr Jung following a Delhi high court ruling that the L-G is the administrative head of the national capital.

Mr Jung on Tuesday replaced health secretary Tarun Seem with IAS officer Chandrakar Bharti, while Ashwani Kumar has been appointed as the new PWD secretary in place of non-IAS cadre office Sarvagya Srivastava.

Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia had requested Mr Jung not to transfer Seem and Srivastava.
