A 28-year-old JNU student has filed a rape case against an Aisa activist, accusing him of raping her in a hostel on the campus on Saturday.
The student is a first year Ph.D. scholar in the university and she alleged that Aisa activist Anmol Ratan, also a student of the varsity, had raped her.
According to the complaint filed at the Vasant Kunj (North) police station, the Ph.D. scholar had posted on her Facebook profile that she wanted to watch Sairat film and asked if anyone had a copy. Ratan apparently messaged her on Facebook that he had a copy. Thereafter, Anmol picked her up from her hostel on the pretext of giving her a copy of the film and took her to Brahmputra Hostel, where he stays. There he offered a spiked drink and allegedly raped her.
Later, he threatened her and asked her to not report the matter.
However, the Ph.D. scholar approached the police on Sunday and a case was registered. Further investigation is underway.
When contacted, the Aisa refused to comment on the charges. An Aisa member said, “This has nothing to do with the Aisa. It is an allegation against an individual in his personal capacity.”
