The Delhi police on Tuesday said it would file a charge sheet in a rape case against JNU student Anmol Ratan within ten days, as a Delhi court decided to hear his bail plea on October one. Additional sessions Judge Rakesh Pandit fixed the matter for the next date after the counsel for Ratan, accused of raping a 28-year-old fellow student in university hostel, told the court that he will argue on the matter once the final report is filed in the case. According to the prosecution, a first-year PhD student had alleged that Ratan, also a JNU student and a member of AISA, raped her on August 20. The girl in her complaint has stated that she wanted to watch a movie. She also posted a message on a social networking site about it. She had asked her fellow students whether they had its CD.

She said that Ratan messaged her on the social networking site saying he had the CD of the movie that she wanted to watch. The accused then picked her up on the pretext of giving her the CD of the film and took her to Brahamputra Hostel where he had been staying. She alleged that the accused offered her a cold drink laced with sedative. After having the cold drink she fell unconscious and the accused allegedly raped her. He also threatened her and asked her to not report the matter to anyone, else face dire consequence. On August 21, the victim got a rape case lodged with the Vasant Kunj police station against the accused. Ratan was also expelled from AISA after the incident.
