“Iron Lady” Irom Sharmila on Sunday expressed her wish to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expecting “good advice” from him. Earlier, the civil rights activist-turned-politician had met chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to seek his advice on fighting the Manipur Assembly polls.
Ms Sharmila, who ended her 16-year-long fast to participate in the next year’s Assembly elections in Manipur, said she would meet the PM to seek his advice as he was elected with a massive mandate in the Lok Sabha elections.
She had met Mr Kejriwal on September 26 seeking his counsel on how to defeat “major political parties” in her home state Manipur.
“Good advice should always be expected. Whether a person is an enemy or a friend, if he has some good views and wants to share it with me, I will take the advice,” she said.
Ms Sharmila on Friday had addressed Delhi University students at an event organised by the Northeast Forum for International Solidarity on the occasion of 120th birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot, a freedom fighter and the founder leader of the CPI in Manipur.
