IAS, aide held for taking Rs 2.2 Lakh bribe

The CBI on Tuesday “apprehended” a senior IAS officer posted with the Delhi government on the charges of corruption. The agency has also detained his personal assistant in connection with the case. According to sources, acting on a tip off, the agency sleuths detained Sanjay Pratap Singh, a 1984 bath IAS officer of the AGMU cadre, and his assistant for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2.2 lakh from a private firm. Mr Singh, posted as principal secretary in the department of welfare of SC/ST (Delhi government), allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 2.2 lakh from a private firm, wh-ich was engaged in providing manpower to the department, sources said.
“The CBI sleuths are questioning the accused public servants. They have been detained by the CBI officials. Further investigation is on,” sources said.
