A garment trader was allegedly stabbed to death by unidentified men near his house in the J extension area of East Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar on Sunday night.

A garment trader was allegedly stabbed to death by unidentified men near his house in the J extension area of East Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar on Sunday night. Sources said that the deceased has been identified as Subhash Yadav (39).

According to the sources, the motive behind the murder could be personal rivalry as Yadav dealt with a large sum of money with his partners on a regular basis. CCTV footage and call detail records of the victim are being scanned.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 10:30 pm at the J-extension area of Laxmi Nagar where Yadav lives with his family. Sources said that while he was going to sleep, he received a call at his mobile phone where in the caller asked him to come out. When he went out of the house, Yadav got into a heated argument with a group of unidentified men. The argument escalated when one of the them took out a knife and started stabbing Yadav.

Locals present at the spot informed the police after which a team of local police rushed him to a nearby hospital where Yadav was declared brought dead on admission, said sources.

The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC at the Shakarpur police station against unknown persons. Meanwhile, police said that they are scanning CCTV footage of the nearby area and the call detail records of the victim to identify the accused. Further investigation is underway.
