In view of heightened threat perception to the city, the Delhi police’s top brass held a meeting with sleuths of the special cell and the crime branch in which developments of search of two suspected LeT terrorists, who are planning to carry out attacks in the city, were discussed.
A senior Delhi police officer, on condition of anonymity, said: “We are reviewing the situation multiple times a day and are in touch with Central security agencies for suitable inputs.” He added, “It is a matter of top priority to us.”
Delhi police officials said that after the meeting they have decided to brief the local police about the possible threats and direct them to male stringent security arrangements in their jurisdictions. “All SHOs are being communicated to keep a tight vigil in their areas and conduct regular meetings at the ground level stake holders,” a senior police officer said, adding, “Regular meetings are also being conducted between special cell officers and local police for better flow of information.”
Meanwhile, the sources added, security has been beefed up at crowded places like markets, railway stations, Metro stations etc. Besides, the cops said that New Delhi district is being paid the most attention as per the secret information the attackers are planning to target some VIPs and important installations in the city, most of whom are housed in the Lutyens Zone.
“Extra security personnel are being deployed at sensitive places and a round-the-clock vigil is being conducted, said the cops, adding, “The diplomatic security force, responsible for securing the embassies in the capital, has also been roped-in in the process.”
“We are leaving no stone unturned to thwart any possible attack on the city and every possible measure is being taken,” said the senior police officer.
