A Delhi police head constable’s son was arrested for physically assaulting two traffic policemen in Outer Delhi’s Rohini area on Sunday late night after the constables stopped the accused for driving on the wrong side of the road in an inebriated state. The police said a local also recorded the incident on his mobile phone.

The police said that two traffic policemen, Satbir Singh and Hoti Lal, were out on night patrolling duty in Rohini area. At around 12.15 am, they witnessed a Maruti Swift car coming from the wrong side. The traffic policemen signaled the car driver to stop. They asked the driver to show his documents. However, they got angry and started abusing the cops.

“They said the rules did not apply to them. When I insisted them to pay the fine, they began hurling abuses at me. By then, Hoti Lal, who was a little distance away, came over. They began abusing him as well,” said Satbir, traffic police head constable.

“The driver and his friend then come out of the car and attacked us. One of them got a helmet from our bike and smashed it on my head. We both started bleeding porously. Witnessing the scuffle, several locals also gathered on the spot. With the help of some locals, we managed to catch one attacker, who was identified as Hemant, while one managed to flee,” said Satbir.
