As part of its major consumer outreach programme, DJB addressed 251 complaints Monday.

According to the DJB, over 1,303 complaints have been resolved during the month-long “Jansampark Shivir” that concluded on Monday. “The idea behind the redressal camps was to provide on-the-spot resolution of grievances to the consumers,” the agency said. The camps were set up in 12 revenue zones in Delhi.

The DJB said it will respond to the consumer complaints in a time bound manner. “The shivirs are launched in addition to other grievance redressal mechanisms available to the consumers like lodging the complaints on DJB website or contacting the toll free no. 1916,” a statement issued by the agency said.

“Consumers can register and update their contact details like mobile numbers on the DJB website www.djb.gov.in to receive regular updates on information such as new schemes launched, current issued bills, payment alerts, payment receipts, detailed bill receipt, old payment history etc,” the statement further said.

Earlier last week, the DJB gave a major relief to its consumers by extending the scheme till November 30, 2016. The scheme will waive off water bills pending till November 2015. Till now, it has benefited approximately 5 lakh distinct consumers.

“Under the scheme, 100 per cent late payment surcharge waiver will be given to all domestic consumers whereas rebate in principal amount will be on the basis of category of colonies applicable for house tax purposes in the municipal corporation,” the DJB had said.
