A Delhi police constable has alleged that he was assaulted by the station house officer of Gandhi Nagar police station for not completing a paperwork he was tasked with.
Constable Hansraj told journalists that he had to be hospitalised after being assaulted by SHO Sanjeev Kumar for not entering the required data in the record room diary. He further alleged that he was also verbally abused by the officer.
Mr Kumar refuted allegations that he had assaulted or hit the constable but admitted that he had pulled him up as the latter had left some important work pending.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Rishi Pal told that while allegations have been made from both sides, he cannot comment over any action.
Sources said the alleged incident took place on June 8 after which the constable was sent to district lines.
The allegations were made on June 10, two days after the incident. The constable was admitted to a private hospital in Patparganj but Mr Pal did not comment on the medical report or whether it had established an assault.
On a video which is doing the rounds on websites and in which the constable has narrated the incident, Mr Pal said that he had not come across any video yet. He also refused to divulge whether any action will be taken against the SHO.
