In wake of the Delhi high court ruling setting aside the AAP government’s order on appointment of 21 of its legislators as parliamentary secretaries, DPCC president Ajay Maken on Thursday requested Speaker Ram Niwas Goel that these MLAs should not be allowed to participate in the proceedings of a day-long special Assembly session on Friday as another plea seeking the disqualification of their membership was pending before the Election Commission.

Stating that 11 MPs were disqualified following a sting operation in 2005, Mr Maken requested the Spea-ker that morality and eth-ics demand that the three AAP legislators who had already been removed from the city Cabinet by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal should also be disqualified.

The Congress leader said that convening of the special session had no relevance as this was for the first time that members of the House have not been provided with the agenda of the session. He said even Mr Kejriwal was not going to attend the session as he was busy with his poll campaigning in Punjab.

The Congress activists, meanwhile, will organise a protest rally on September 16 in all the 70 constituencies against the AAP government’s failure in tackling the vector-borne diseases.
