The Congress workers of Kirari have demanded a CBI inquiry against AAP MLA Rituraj Govind Jha for his alleged role and level of involvement in printing and circulation of fake currency notes of Rs 100 denomination by his close aides, who have been arrested by the Haryana police, from the area recently.
Hundreds of underprivileged and unsuspecting residents of Kirari have been duped by the counterfeit currency gang which was working in a very organised manner in the area for the last three months with the alleged blessings of the local MLA, they alleged.
Recently, while investigating a fake currency case, the Haryana police arrested two AAP workers from Kirari for allegedly printing fake notes and distributing it among the poorest of the poor. The police seized a colour printer, fake '20,000 notes, scissors and high-quality paper that were being used to print the fake notes. They were selling notes worth Rs 1,000 in exchange for Rs 400 and the poor people of Kirari were falling in their trap.
Local Congress leader Pratyush Kanth said, “For the last few months, this father-son duo, Arvind Singh and Shubam Singh, who have been arrested, and his younger son Pushpraj’s face could be seen on hundreds of hoardings put up all over Kirari with that of the local MLA. They were either announcing the distribution of ambulances in the area or sewing machines or wishing ‘Happy New Year’ to the residents of Kirari. We were always amazed as to how these AAP workers could spend lakhs of rupees on hoardings and other programmes. After this arrest, their link is crystal clear.”
“It is an open and shut case against AAP MLA Rituraj Jha. The CBI will bring out all the facts in the public domain in no time.”
“The MLA was giving these criminals legitimacy in the area by always keeping one of the notorious sons of the accused Arvind Singh — Shubam or Pushpraj — with him while he was moving in Kirari, and the sons in return were funding the MLA’s flamboyant life. The MLA connection made this gang very strong in the area, while the poor people out of greed were buying 10 new notes of Rs 100 denomination by paying only Rs 400,” Mr Kanth said.
Mr Kanth claimed many other local AAP leaders would have been arrested had the Haryana police conducted the raid more seriously and professionally, and had the Delhi police joined them too.
“More than the failure of the local Delhi police in unearthing this big fake currency racket, it is the success of the top AAP leadership in ensuring that other intelligence agencies of the Government of India did not swing into immediate action over such a serious crime.”
