A Delhi court has dismissed a criminal complaint lodged against former Delhi police commissioner B.S. Bassi and 21 others for procuring an MIG flat in Lucky Home Cooperative society of Rohini “illegally” in 1989.
The complaint was filed through Gopal Mohan, the adviser to the chief minister of Delhi. In the complaint, it was alleged that one of the members of Lucky Home Cooperative Society was expelled and Mr Bassi’s name was inducted illegally so that he could be the owner of a flat. The complainant had also alleged that former MCD commissioner K.S. Mehra, who was then registrar, had been helping Mr Bassi in getting a flat. But the court did not take any congnisance on the matter and dismissed the plea.
The former police commissioner had denied all the allegations levelled against him and said he was being targeted. Ravi Bassi, his brother and counsel, said that there were no prima facie evidence against his brother and the court noted it. He said that the complainant had alleged that a seat was specially created illegally for Mr Bassi. “But in fact 31 other people were made the members of the committee of Lucky Home Cooperative Society during that time. The court might have noted this point while dismissing the complaint,” he said. Two separate criminal complaint of cheating were lodged against Mr Bassi in connection with the matter.
