Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is exhibiting “extreme dictatorial tendencies” and wondered whether he, at least, has the freedom to eat food of his choice.
“Can I have food of my choice Extreme dictatorial tendencies. They want to control everything,” Mr Kejriwal said in a tweet on Tuesday. He was referring to reports that the ministry of home affairs had sent him a letter last week, informing him that he does not have power to sign on suspension orders on his own.
Mr Kejriwal had recently suspended his principal secretary Rajendra Kumar, who has been arrested by the CBI over charges of graft. An IAS officer who remains in police custody for more than 48 hours is “deemed to be suspended” automatically, as per the government rules.
The Delhi government has repeatedly accused the BJP-led Union government of transferring top performing bureaucrats out of Delhi.
In an apparent reference to BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignation from the Rajya Sabha on Monday, Mr Kejriwal said that the BJP has no room for “honest” and “good people.” He even accused the BJP’s top leaders of having a “dictatorial attitude.”
“Honest n gud people are feeling extremely suffocated within BJP due to dictatorial attitude of its top leadership,” he said in an another tweet.
Mr Kejriwal on Monday had welcomed Mr Sidhu’s decision to resign from his membership of the Upper House. Mr Sidhu is likely to join the AAP ahead of the Assembly polls in Punjab.
