Boy, 12, brutally thrashed by 3 men

A 12-year-old boy was brutally assaulted by a group of three men who dragged him up the stairs and then assaulted him with pipes and branded him with a hot knife all over his body in Shakarpur on Sunday evening.

The accused have been arrested but the boy’s widowed mother has said that her landlord, who is a neighbour, is putting pressure on her to withdraw the case.

According to the boy’s family, he was sodomised as well but the medical report has ruled it out.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Rishi Pal said a case of assault and abduction has been registered against the three men—all of whom have been arrested. He said that provisions of Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act have also been slapped in the case.

The assault happened around 6 pm when a kite the boy was flying snapped and landed at the three storeyed building where the accused, all in their twenties, live in a rented room on the terrace. But in doing so, he landed straight into trouble as the three men arrived there and confronted him.

His mother said that her son did nothing to provoke them but they started bullying and troubling him. “He told me that they took him to their terrace room, pushing and even dragging him along the stairs on their way up. Once there, they used a pipe to land repeated blows on his body. Not an inch was spared,” said the crying mother attending to her injured son at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital here.

She added that the boy even claimed to have been sexually assaulted and there were injuries on his private parts as well. Deep cuts were visible on his body in the pictures shared by the family narrating how brutal the attack was. The boy told the police that a knife was heated before inflicting those injuries.

Even as the torture was on, the worried mother started looking frantically for the child. Four hours later, the boys themselves left him home and threatened the mother against going to the police.

The woman’s husband died a few years ago and the victim is her only son.
