Body of 19-year-old girl found in Patel Nagar

A 19-year-old woman was found murdered inside a rented accommodation of a youth in central Delhi’s Patel Nagar area late on Tuesday evening.

The victim had sustained four stab injuries and her body was found inside the rented accommodation of a youth, who claimed he was not present in the house at the time of the incident, which came to light at around 8 pm.

The woman’s identity was ascertained with the help of an identity card recovered from the room, the police said. Her parents were informed and the body was then sent for a post-mortem.

“We have registered a case of murder and investigation is underway,” said DCP (central) Parmaditya. The youth in whose room the body was found has been detained for questioning. He has, so far, claimed he did not know the woman and had found the body after returning home from work. The police has not ruled out the possibility of the crime having been committed by a third person, who was perhaps known to the youth.
