The Delhi BJP on Monday demanded chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation, saying his government has ‘completely failed’ on the women security front. The Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay brought out a ‘chargesheet’ claiming there were allegations of atrocities on women, fraud, graft and religious frenzy against several AAP workers and that the ruling party stands exposed on the issue of probity.
Mr Upadhyay said, “Of the 70 election promises of Mr Kejriwal, women security was the most hyped. But after coming to power, his government has ignored the issue and not launched any concrete programme in this direction.” He alleged that the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has become a political playground and matters related to domestic violence involving MLAs and harassment of women by legislators and their goons have became a routine. “The situation has turned worse. The family of an AAP volunteer, who allegedly committed suicide after facing harassment at the hands of a party colleague, told the media that Mr Kejriwal asked her to compromise,” said Mr Upadhyay.
Presenting a five-point chargesheet against the CM, he said that the people of Delhi are fed up and are in no mood to tolerate Mr Kejriwal any further and it is time he should resign.
“Time and again Mr Kejriwal has called other political parties anti democratic, but he himself does not adhere even to the basic principals of democracy and continues to sit on dual posts of the party president as well as the chief minister,” he said.
The BJP leader also added that in many states we have seen regional parties coming up on the face value of a single local leader, but after coming to power one of the two posts is filled by another party leader. “In Delhi we find just the opposite. A man who is always preaching ideals to others continues to sit on two posts,” he said.
