Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal will be unable to attend the one-day special Delhi Assembly session on September 9 as he will be away from the national capital for nearly a fortnight to take stock of the party’s poll preparations in Punjab and then undergo a throat surgery in Bangalore. The AAP convenor will begin his three-day visit to the state starting this Sunday during which time he will launch the party’s youth manifesto and meet representatives from different sections of the society.

With the Assembly polls in Punjab due next year, “Arvind Kejriwal will first visit Amritsar as part of his three-day visit to Punjab,” an AAP leader said on Saturday. After paying obeisance at the Golden Temple and Durgiana Temple, he will launch the party’s youth manifesto in the evening, he said. It will be the party’s first manifesto. The AAP will also launch manifestos on issues pertaining to farmers, dalits, women and other sections of society.

Party’s youth manifesto, which has been prepared after holding dialogues with youngsters, teachers and other sections of the society, will focus on major issues like education, employment, and drug rehabilitation.

On his second day of the visit, Mr Kejriwal will go to Gurdaspur, Jalandhar and Malerkotla, where he is expected to meet different sections of the society, including industry representatives. On the last day of his visit, he will be going to Ludhiana and Khanna where he will meet traders and industry people and listen to their concerns and issues, the AAP leader informed. The Delhi CM will undergo surgery on September 13 to cure his chronic cough problem.
