Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD), which has received a large number of applications this year for courses like Sociology and Psychology, has declared a 100 per cent in the first cut-off for its five top courses.
This year, the university witnessed a 173.85 per cent quantum jump in the number of applicants for admission to its various undergraduate courses. Unlike earlier system of cut-offs, for the first time AUD has released a merit list of students. The list is however, based on a cut-off that asked for 100 per cent in BA Honors Sociology, English, Psychology, History and Social Scien-ces and Humanities for students with commerce and science backgrounds.
Last year too, AUD had asked for 100 per cent marks from students wan-ting to change streams. About 26,777 applications have been received by the varsity for its undergraduate courses. Last year the-re were only 9,778 applications. As good news for students of Delhi seeking admission to AUD for subjects they have already studied in their school, the university has kept two per cent less points in their cut-off as compared to the second cut-off list of Delhi University. “This rule would be applicable if the students apply for the same stream which they had studied in class XII,” said an AUD official.
While the highest cut-off for NCT students has been set between 95 to 100 per cent for Sociology, History and Social Sciences and Humanities, 96 to 100 per cent has been set for non-NCT students for Sociol-ogy and History. The university has also increased 200 seats in its new Karampura campus this year for four of its courses, BA (Hons) Economics, BA (Hons) English, BA (Hons) Psychology, BA (Hons) Social Science and Humanities.
“Students on the first merit list will have to get document verification done between July 8 and 11. The second cut-off list will be released on July 12,” an official statement said.
