The Delhi police on Saturday got the custody of Muneer, the main accused in the murder of NIA officer Tanzeel Ahmed, for 10 days in connection with a case of murder and robbery of Rs 1.5 crore from an ATM in the city.
The city police had already got the custody of Ashutosh Mishra, mastermind of the Rs 1.5 crore heist that the duo (Ashutosh and Muneer) committed in North Delhi’s Roop Nagar area in November 2014.
A police official said that they will be interrogating Ashutosh and Muneer at the same time to find out the many unanswered que-stions of the heist. Ashut-osh, who was lodged in Aligarh jail, was brought to Delhi on transit remand on June 23. After the heist, Ashutosh got arrested, but Munir fled with the entire loot amount to his hometown in Bijnor district, where he bought a plot and vehicles using up the entire looted amount.
The police said that they are also gathering information on his other property details from the UP police.
The police was chasing Muneer over two months, but the chase ended on June 28 when the Uttar Pradesh special task force (STF) intensive eight-hour long search of over 100 buses at three ISBTs of Delhi, India Gate, Bikaner House and Dhaula Kuan over specific input that he was trying to escape to Ahmadabad. Muneer was hiding at his friend Adnan’s apartment in Ghaziabad.
