The right-wing ABVP is planning to file a complaint against JNU’s associate dean for giving permission for event in which anti-India slogans were allegedly raised.
JNU student Anirban Bhattacharya, one of the students arrested on on Sunday night, had found himself in trouble over an event he had organised at the same time last year.
After an inquiry, the JNU authorities had transferred him to another hostel and he was levied a fine of Rs 5,000 for organising a public talk and allegedly misleading senior warden of the hostel in which he used to stay. According to the proctoral order number 38/CP/2015, Mr Bhattacha-rya gave incorrect information regarding the speakers invited for the talk.
Mr Bhattacharya along with Umar Khalid and others had been accused of organising the controversial February 9 event commemorating the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, as per the preliminary report of the JNU inquiry committee. The ABVP on Friday alleged that some former members of DSU had been found guilty of organising similar events in the past.
