AAP legislator will head Haj Committee

The AAP government has reportedly finalised the names for the office-bearers of the Delhi Haj Commi-ttee. A highly-placed source said the AAP’s Seelampur legislator Haji Ishraq Khan is being appointed as the chairman of the Haj Com-mittee. The orders related to the constitution of the six-member committee will reportedly be issued in the next few days. The AAP MLA from Okhla, Amanuallah Khan, and Rajya Sabha MP Parvez Hashmi are said to be the members of the newly-appointed committee. Mr Amanullah Khan was earlier appointed as the head of the Delhi Waqf Board.

Interestingly, North Delhi Municipal Corporation’s Congress councillor Seema Tahira has also been appo-inted as the member of the Haj Committee. Mayor Rav-indra Gupta had reportedly recommended the Congress councilor’s name despite recommending BJP’s lone Muslim councillor Noorb-ano for the job. Social acti-vists Nasiruddin Saifi and Maulana Feroz have been appointed as members from the social activist quota.
