AAP govt as corrupt as the last one: Satish Upadhyay

Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay on Wednesday said that Arvind Kejriwal government was as much corrupt as was the former Sheila Dikshit government. Mr Upadhyay alleged that the head of this government and the deputy chief minister, Manish Sisodia, have been patronising corrupt people and the proof of this fact was the posting of such officers who were involved in corruption during Ms Dikshit’s regime to their personal offices.

Mr Upadhyay said that Navalender Kumar Singh appointed as officer on special duty (OSD) to Mr Sisodia has recently been suspended by the lieutenant governor on charges of selling a plot of land in Bhalaswa belonging to DUSIB to a builder.

He further alleged that Mr Sisodia trying to show he did not know Mr Singh was a lie. “Mr Singh is related to a political leader from Mr Sisodia’s hometown and he knew the officer personally since long,” he said. According to Mr Upadhyay, Mr Singh has been an officer of doubtful integrity. He said that during Ms Dikshit’s tenure he was the SDM of Model Town connected with Bhalaswa. There were charges of irregularities in cases of land allotment against him. A CBI raid had recovered '10 lakh from him. Between 2003 to 2013, he was accused in several cases. In 2013, the vigilance department had recommended that this officer should not be appointed to any sensitive post.

Mr Upadhyay asked if the credentials of these officers were verified from the vigilance department before their appointments as secretary to the chief minister or OSD to the deputy chief minister were made.

“If such inquiry or probe is held then were Rajender Kumar and Navalendra Kumar Singh were also enquired at the time of being appointed as Secretary to the CM and OSD to the Dy CM respectively,” questioned Mr Upadhyay.
