The AAP government has directed the school authorities to sensitise their students and teachers about the dengue outbreak and other control measures they should take on mosquito breeding in and around their respective houses in the national capital. Issuing a list of do’s and don’ts about the prevention of dengue outbreak, the government has ordered all the schools to sensitise their students during their assembly sessions.
In its circular, the government said: “As all are aware, especially during and after rainy season, there is high prevalence of dengue. Prevention is the best method to control the dengue disease. In order to prevent the dengue outbreak, it is essential to avoid mosquito breeding in the school areas.”
The circular said that all water containers and overhead tanks should be properly covered and desert coolers and other containers should be dried up once every week. In case one is not able to dry these containers every week, one should add two table-spoon of petrol or kerosene in them.
A list of do’s issued by the government said: “Use mosquito repellents on exposed parts of the body during day time to prevent mosquito bites. Wear full-sleeved clothes and long dresses/ trousers that cover arms and legs, especially during epidemic season to prevent mosquito bite. Use mesh doors/ windows, mosquito coils, etc.”
