Judicial officers of the district courts of Delhi will get a salary hike with the Kejriwal government notifying recommendations of the Seventh Central Pay Commission. The decision will benefit around 500 district court judges.

The Seventh Pay Commission provides 2.5 times increase in basic salaries and pension with effect from January 1.

As per the government’s notification issued on September 30, a district judge at the entry level has a revised pay scale of '1,31,100-2,16,600, whereas a district judge (super time scale) has a pay scale of '1,82,200-2,24,100.

“The Delhi government has issued a notification to implement recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission for all the district court judges. With this, Delhi has become the first state which has clea-red 2.5 fold hike for judges as per the commission’s recommendations,” a government official said.

Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the law portfolio, has approved the move.

In August this year, the AAP government had implemented recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission for over one lakh employees of the city administration.

Earlier on Friday, the Delhi government had also directed all recognised, unaided schools in the capital to implement recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission and give their employees revised salaries.

For revision of salaries for judges, separate judicial pay commission is set up. Last time, a one-man commission, headed by Justice E. Padmanabhan, was set up in 2009 on determination of salary, pension, etc., to judicial officers and pensioners.
