The Delhi Cabinet on Friday approved a proposal to reorganise west and southwest civil districts/sessions division/metropolitan areas of Delhi. Officials said the changes will have a positive impact on residents of the said areas by making things easier for them.
“The Cabinet gave a nod to the proposal of reorganisation of west and southwest civil districts/sessions divisions/metropolitan areas of Delhi in as much as transfer of three police stations — Uttam Nagar, Vikaspuri and Janakpuri from the west district to the southwest district so as to enable the cases under their jurisdiction to be filed in the sessions division in the Dwarka courts complex,” an official statement said.
The statement, however, said the existing criminal cases related to police stations of Uttam Nagar, Vikaspuri and Janakpuri, which were filed and are pending in the sessions court at Tis Hazari, should not be transferred to the sessions court at Dwarka.
A new police station, envisaged for Vikas Nagar, will comprise of substantial areas presently under the police station of Ranhoula. “The Vikas Nagar police station will form part of southwest sessions division and hence criminal cases from police station at Vikas Nagar will be filed in the sessions division at Dwarka courts complex,” the statement said.
The AAP government has taken out eight revenue areas of the west district from Patel Nagar sub-division of the west district, including Budhela, Nangli Jalib, Posangipur, Asalat Pur, Hastsal, Raja Pur Khurd, Nawada Mazara Hastal and Matiala and added these to Dwarka sub-division of southwest district, without creating a new district.
“So, the new civil cases filed on or after cut-off date, relating/pertaining to territorial jurisdiction of these eight villages, should now be filed at the district courts complex at Dwarka. However, existing or cases already filed before a cut-off date, which can be fixed, should not be transferred and should be dealt with and adjudicated in the district courts complex at Tis Hazari,” the statement added.
