Six armed persons, in their attempt to rob two kirana shops, opened fire at the occupants of one of the shops, injuring three in east Delhi’s Kalyanpuri area on Sunday.
Deputy commissioner of police (east district) Rishi Pal Singh said one person, identified as 23-year-old Karthik, has been arrested, while the rest have been identified and police teams have been formed to nab them.
On Sunday at around 11 am, the armed robbers came to the shops and pointed their weapons at the occupants in order to prevent them from shouting and rob their shops clean.
“One of the victims cried for help grabbing the attention of locals. Sensing trouble, the accused started to fire indiscriminately injuring three persons at the shops, identified as Bhomraj, his son Mohit and Ashok,” said the police official.
The accused, who had come on bikes, fled except Karthik, who was caught by the locals and handed over to the police.
Meanwhile, the three injured were rushed to the nearby hospital where they are currently undergoing treatment. The police said it has recovered one country made pistol, a cartridge and a motorcycle with UP number plate used in the commission of crime.
Further investigations are on.
