The vigilance branch of the Delhi police on Saturday said they have arrested three persons, including two Delhi police constables, for allegedly accepting bribe.
The vigilance branch of the Delhi police on Saturday said they have arrested three persons, including two Delhi police constables, for allegedly accepting bribe.
The accused police constables were identified as Yashpal and Rajpal. Both the accused constables we-re posted at southwest Delhi’s Kirti Nagar police station. A senior police of-ficial said that the accused constables were apprehended on Friday evening when they were allegedly accepting bribe from the owner of a delivery van. “A tea vendor was also involved in the crime who acted as the conduit on behalf of the accused constables,” the official said.
According to the information, the owner of the delivery van had lodged a complaint in this respect with the vigilance branch of the police.
“The complainant stated that he had helped the police in arresting four accused who had stolen his delivery van. But the cops demanded bribe for the release of his delivery van which was seized by the police,” the official said.
The accused constable had demanded '20,000 from him for the release of his delivery van. The amount was negotiated after the complainant told them that he was not in a condition to pay them the full amount. Finally the amount was settled at '15,000, to be paid in instalments.
The complainant recorded the conversation of both the policemen and reported the matter to vigilance branch of the Delhi police
